CAVES (CAPE GREKO)

Depth 12 m

The nearby caves (Cape Greko) can be reached by regular car; the several hundred meters between the asphalt road and the shore are definitely suitable for off-road vehicles. A few meters below, from the parking lot to the shore, you can walk along a path leading among the rocks. Entering the water is easy. It’s worth avoiding the ladder built in 2022; it’s uncomfortable. You can exit the water the same way onto a rocky ledge or swim out through a hole in the cave ceiling located on the part of the ledge that is usually covered by water. During a dive of about an hour, you can visit four easily accessible and beautiful caves. This is a good place for your first experience with diving in enclosed spaces. The caves are bright, so flashlights are not necessary. A bright exit is always visible at the entrance, and the ceilings are full of holes that illuminate the interior, allowing you to swim out. The rock of the caves is so cracked and porous that after emerging, you can observe a line of air bubbles rising to the surface through the cave ceiling. If you want to meditate, clear your mind and body, experience catharsis, and recharge for another year of work, you can pay a fortune to an online personal development guru after returning from vacation, or simply dive here. A smile of delight and a sense of relaxation are common among those diving here with the Yellow Fins Diving Center. If there are no waves at all, you’ll encounter numerous lionfish. When the waves are breaking, these beautiful, predatory fish hide among the rocky recesses. Observers who are particularly attentive will spot seahorses and beautiful nudibranchs, resembling blue flowers, living on small plants. The shape of the underwater rocks clearly indicates that thousands of years ago, the water level was lower here. More than 10 meters below the surface, you can see places where waves once crashed, and the flowing water washed out the rocky channels. Visibility is usually over 25 meters, the water temperature in season ranges between 26-31 degrees Celsius, and the maximum depth is around 12 meters.
